*Captain Dan's Dream Team*

In 2002, the Captain Dan Dream team raised $18,000 and was able to create the $10,000 “Captain Dan Spirit Endowment Scholarship” fund at SMSU in Marshall, MN.
Each year a Mustang wrestler is awarded a $500 scholarship based on criteria that he exemplifies the spirit of Daniel Ourada and his sportsmanship, hard work and community involvement. The Mustang wrestling team votes on the team member that will receive the award each year.

The following have received the Captain Dan Spirit ACompanionshipward as Mustangs.

In 2003, the team was able to create the “Daniel Ourada Family Endowment” fund inCaptain Dan accomplishments pictures the amount of $15,000. This fund was set up thru the Mn. Star Foundation which has specified rules and regulations on whom and how funds can be used. Its purpose is to help the surrounding communities of Lucan, Wabasso, Wanda, Milroy, where Daniel grew up and was involved with organizations with his family. This fund has been used to help church groups, school projects, first response organizations and a hospital project.
Each year since it’s creation a Wabasso High School Rabbit wrestler is
awarded a scholarship at graduation ceremony in May.

In 2004 and 2005 the Dream banked the proceeds to build for a future projects for the Park.

In 2006 the Dream Team built an outdoor basketball court at the City Park valued at $18,000, all labor was donated for this project. Two 6 foot benches were installed at Lucan Park at basketball court and volleyball court for parents to rest while the children played.

In 2007 the Dream Team purchased a commercial popcorn machine toCaptain Dan accomplishments
be sent to the HHC 2-147 AHB stationed in Balad, Iraq.
Made a donation of $500 to the Captain Dan Spirit Endowment fund at SMSU, donated $300 to purchase wrestling sweats for the Mustang wrestlers and sponsored the banner for SMSU which will hang in the gymnasium noting all the “ALL AMERICANS” from 1973 till present time.  The Dream Team  was approached about sponsoring the Lucan Community Booster Club calendar for 2008 and will also get the Captain Dan Fun Days photo on front of calendar.

We look forward to our 2008 Captain Dan Fun Days and anticipate doing many more good projects for our community in Daniel Ourada’s memory.
